A former lifeguard who spent six summer seasons in Jersey in the 1970s has made a return visit to the Island from his home in Australia to catch up with old friends.
Brian “Jughead” Jones, who lives in Lake Macquarie, north of Sydney, first came to Jersey in 1971 after hearing about jobs for lifeguards while on a working holiday in London.
During his time in Jersey, he captained the 1st team at Jersey Rugby Club and met his English-born wife Carol, who worked as a stewardess for British Airways.
Mr and Mrs Jones spent a week in Jersey during their recent trip, including a chance to check out the lifeguard station at Grève de Lecq.
