Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has given fans a huge surprise on his birthday! The actor announced ‘Awarapan 2’, sharing its official teaser on social media. Speculations about a sequel of Emraan’s 2007 film had been rife, and the actor finally confirmed the same with the latest announcement. The actor is all set to return to his beloved role, and the teaser gives a glimpse of what fans can expect.
On Monday, Emraan Hashmi shared the teaser of Awarapan 2, which features his heart-wrenching visuals from Mohit Suri’s 2007 film Awarapan. The clip also features Emraan’s iconic character from the film, standing on a boat, looking at the sun setting behind the city’s skyline. Emraan is also seen setting a bird free from the cage, while he narrates, “Kisi aur ki zindagi ke liye marna hi meri manzil hai (To die for someone else’s life is my destiny).” “Awarapan 2, The journey continues,” reads the text at the end of the teaser. The song ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ from the 2007 film plays in the background. Needless to say, the announcement of Awarapan 2 left everyone super excited! Actor Veer Pahariya dropped red heart emojis, while fans expressed their excitement to see Emraan return in the sequel. “Bday Gift de diya bhai ne most Awaited Awarapan Watching in Theater,” wrote one fan, while another fan commented, “Damn !!!!!! I just can’t wait !!!!!” Many others expressed their excitement for the film’s music, while others wished Emraan a happy birthday.
A few weeks ago, Emraan had posted an animated clip featuring his character from Awarapan, that led fans to speculate whether a sequel was in the works. The song ‘Toh Phir Aao’ played in the background, and the actor had simply captioned it, “Jummah Mubarak.”
Earlier, producer Mukesh Bhatt had addressed the growing chatter about the re-release of Awarapan and Jannat. Speaking to News18 Showsha, he acknowledged the rising demand but refrained from confirming anything. “Oh my god! I have been hearing this from everywhere. Yes, people have been approaching me about this. But I believe in giving the audience what they truly want. The demand for re-releasing these movies is strong, and I will discuss it with my team before making any decision.” Emraan Hashmi also reflected on Awarapan’s unexpected rise to cult status over the years. “It wasn’t a big success in 2007, but today, it’s my most loved film. Over 20 years, it has gained immense respect. This shows that films can find success over time.”
Helmed by Mohit Suri, ‘Awarapan’ produced by Mukesh Bhatt, released in 2007. The film starred Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana. While the film failed to perform well at the box office when it released, it eventually came to be regarded as one of Emraan’s best works. The film’s songs composed by Pritam, garnered praise, and remain memorable even today.
