BAN Vs PAK: Bangladesh Clinches Historic T20I Series Win Over Pakistan
@Source: news18.com
Bangladesh secured a narrow eight-run victory against Pakistan in the second T20I match on Tuesday, marking their first-ever series win in this format against Pakistan.
Faheem Ashraf’s aggressive 32-ball 51 and Ahmed Daniyal’s debut 11-ball 17 provided a late scare, but Daniyal was dismissed off the second ball of the final over, with Pakistan bowled out for 125 chasing 134 in Dhaka.
Earlier, Jaker Ali scored 55 off 48 balls as Bangladesh, sent in to bat, were bowled out for 133 in 20 overs. Salman Mirza took 2-17 while Daniyal claimed 2-23.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam achieved his best T20I figures of 3-17 on a slow Mirpur pitch, reducing Pakistan to 15-5 by the fifth over.
Ashraf hit four sixes and as many boundaries to raise hopes of a comeback, but spinner Rishad Hossain dismissed him in the penultimate over.
Ashraf and Abbas Afridi, who scored 19 off 13 balls, revived Pakistan’s innings from 47-7 with a 41-run partnership, but Bangladesh emerged victorious.
How Bangladesh Made History Against Pakistan?
Bangladesh had previously won the first match at the same venue by seven wickets and secured an unassailable 2-0 lead with the final match set for Thursday in Dhaka.
This series victory marked Bangladesh’s first T20I series win over Pakistan in four attempts.
Pakistan’s opener Saim Ayub was run out for one in the first over, followed by Islam dismissing Fakhar Zaman (8) and Mohammad Haris (0), leaving Pakistan struggling early.
Bangladesh captain Litton Das praised the team effort, expressing satisfaction with back-to-back series wins, including a recent 2-1 T20I series win in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan captain Salman Agha lamented his team’s batting failures, acknowledging that they lost too many wickets early in the chase of 134.
Jaker’s innings included five sixes and a boundary for his third T20I half-century. Bangladesh had lost four wickets for 28 runs by the sixth over before Jaker and Mahedi Hasan revived the innings with a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Mahedi contributed 33 off 25 balls, including two sixes and two boundaries.
