One of the top players in Oregon will be heading down to California to play college basketball.
On Friday afternoon, Barlow’s Jalen Atkins announced on social media that he is committed to Biola University.
Atkins has been a crucial piece to Barlow’s run over the past few years. In three seasons of starting for the Bruins, Atkins has led the team to a combined 73-16 record.
In the 2024-25 season, Barlow went 27-3 and won the OSAA Class 6A state championship. Atkins averaged 21 points, 6.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game this winter. He was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Oregon and the all-state Player of the Year.
Atkins had previously committed to Eastern Arizona, a junior college that has recently become a landing spot for many Oregon high school standouts.
The Monsters have been home to Roosevelt’s Raysean Seamster, Tualatin’s Noah Ogoli and Sprague’s Dallon Morgan.
After winning the Class 6A basketball state championship, Atkins reopened his recruiting.
