Bayern Munich star points finger at Harry Kane after Champions League defeat

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller surprisingly pointed the finger at team-mate Harry Kane after their 2-1 loss to Inter Milan as he rued the England striker's big miss in the first half. Vincent Kompany's men have it all to do in the Champions League quarter-final second leg after a narrow defeat to the Italian side., Inter scored through Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi, after Muller himself had equalised. But things could have been different had former Tottenham star Kane not fluffed his lines with a great opportunity from close range with the scores a 0-0. In the 25th minute, Kane was played in by Michael Olise inside the box with the goal gaping from about six yards, a position you would bank on the two-time Premier League golden boot winner to score. But Kane took it first time and watched his effort strike the edge of the far post before bouncing away for a goal kick. It proved to be costly as just over ten minutes later, Martinez broke the deadlock to give Inter the lead and Muller thought he had secured a late equaliser after tapping home from Konrad Laimer's cross. But Inter struck again just minutes later as Frattesi slotted home to finish off a breathless counter attack to hand the advantage to the Serie A side, and Muller couldn't help but vent his frustration after the game. Muller - who is set to leave Bayern this summer after 17 seasons - chose to focus on Kane's miss as he lambasted the teams inability to convert their chances on the night. "We unfortunately missed a big chance in the first half with Harry, that would've given us a different feeling," he said. "Inter have good players with the ball who are able to take the pace off the game and slow it down, then play long balls to their strikers. "They have experienced and physical players - it wasn't a walk in the park and we didn't expect it to be. We created chances in the second half but unfortunately couldn't convert them." Muller's criticism of Kane comes despite the 31-year-old enjoying a superb season in front of goal. He has 34 goals in 40 games this season, helping Bayern go six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Overall since joining from Tottenham for £100m in 2023, Kane has netted 87 times in 85 appearances, making him one of the most clinical strikers in Bayern's recent history.
