Viewers of Sort Your Life Out were left feeling emotional as a couple shared their heart-wrenching story on the popular BBC programme. In the episode aired on Tuesday (18 February), Stacey Solomon and her team paid a visit to Lynda and Ben's home in Leeds, which was overwhelmed with clutter.
As they toured their crowded house, Lynda and Ben opened up about their predicament. They confessed their love for shopping and difficulty in discarding items, before dropping the bombshell that Lynda was battling stage four breast cancer.
The revelation moved those watching at home to tears, especially when the couple, parents to five year old Charlotte, spoke tearfully about the uncertainty of Lynda's remaining time.
Ben recounted how Lynda first discovered a "tiny lump" under her left breast two years prior, leading to her initial diagnosis. Lynda then detailed her journey, explaining: "After that, I was sent for an MRI scan and it was decided to have a masectomy."
She continued: "I was thinking, well, we go through the rough time but it'll be worth it in the long run when come out. That wasn't the case. I was told it had spread to my liver. Stage four, which does mean unfortunately it is incurable."
Describing his wife as a "trooper" who continues to "get on with life", Ben was visibly emotional as he talked about Lynda's condition. He also shared how the family has been cherishing weekends with their daughter Charlotte and relatives, which has led to them spending less time at home, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Viewers were left emotional after watching the heart-wrenching scenes, with floods of people expressing their compassion for Lynda and Ben on social media.
"11 minutes in and I'm gone #sortyourlifeout," tweeted one viewer, while another shared: "An emotional #sortyourlifeout." (sic)
Another added to the chorus of support, saying: "This is breaking me tonight. #SortYourLifeOut." Meanwhile, a different user reflected: "Lynda and Bens' priorities have quite rightly changed after her diagnosis. Making memories is more important than anything else now #sortyourlifeout." (sic)
One particularly moved BBC fan commented: "This is one of the most emotional episodes I've watched and what a beautiful family, so loving and touching. Stacey is just the right person to be with them on their journey and so connected to little Charlotte. Life is so unfair at times.#SortYourLifeOut." (sic)
Sort Your Life Out airs on Tuesdays on BBC One at 8pm.
