Chicago Bears rookie Zah Frazier will not play for the team during the 2025 season due to personal issues, GM Ryan Poles said.
Frazier, a fifth-round pick for the Bears out of the University of Texas-San Antonio, was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list earlier this month, and he will remain there for the entirety of the season, Poles announced Tuesday.
“He had a situation that presented itself, in a category that I would say personal, as we come into it, try to help him out, revealed itself as something that happened before he got here,” Poles said during his press conference Tuesday.
Frazier, who turns 25 later this year, will still be around the team, Poles said, participating in workouts and working with the team’s medical and strength staffs at Halas Hall.
“(He’ll be) preparing for next season to get ready to play,” Poles said.
Frazier was a standout defensive back for the Roadrunners in his collegiate career, racking up 24 combined tackles in his final season in San Antonio. He also registered six interceptions and defended nine passes, both of which were career highs.
