On the day they reported to Halas Hall to begin the offseason program, the Bears re-signed four exclusive rights free agents and gave defensive tackle Chris Williams, a restricted free agent, a contract Monday.
Defensive end Daniel Hardy, who played a whopping 85% of the Bears’ special teams downs last year, is the most notable of the ERFA signings. He’s joined by cornerback Ameer Speed, defensive tackle Jonathan Ford and interior offensive lineman Bill Murray.
The Bears sent a sixth-round pick to the Browns in August for Williams and received a 2025 seventh-round pick in return, too. Williams had three sacks and played in all 17 games for the Bears last season. He played on one-third of the Bears’ defensive downs and will fight for a rotation spot again this season.
Ford played in the last four games after the Bears signed him away from the Packers. Murray spent most of last season on injured reserve. Speed joined the practice squad in September and played in two games.
