@Source: newsweek.com
The PGA Tour is winding down a bit over the next few weeks while top players recover from a long stretch of signature events and get ready for The Masters in early April.Of course, each year new players are added to the list of names on tour. Later this year at the Rocket Classic, a new name will be added to the list of PGA Tour pros when Dominic Clemons tees it up for the first time on the main tour, per Eric Guzman of GolfWeek."The Rocket Classic announced Tuesday that Folds of Honor – a national nonprofit dedicated to providing academic scholarships to family members of fallen and or disabled military members and first responders – that will provide an exemption for Clemons to participate at this years event, which set to take place June 26-29," Guzman wrote."Clemons currently plays at the University of Alabama. He will get a chance to play on the PGA Tour for the first time after completing his junior season with the Crimson Tide later this spring.That doesn't mean that Clemons has never played with the big boys. He played in The Open Championship in 2024 as an amateur, missing the cut after shooting 77-78 in the first two rounds.The native of Cambridge, England was given the exemption to participate in the Rocket Classic by the Folds of Honor after winning the nonprofit's collegiate event last fall.This will be a great chance for the 22-year old to show off his skills that could make him a consistent pro in the future.He is currently on the watch list for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award, which is given annually to the top college golfer in the United States. The Ben Hogan Award is a prestigious honor that has gone to the lines of Ludvig Aberg (twice), Jon Rahm (twice), Viktor Hovland and Sahith Theegala in the last decade.More Golf: PGA Tour Social Phenom Drops Hysterical Reason for Valspar Appearance
