Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway Toll Rates Out, Here's What It'll Cost You
@Source: news18.com
Motorists using the Karnataka section of the upcoming Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway will soon need to pay toll charges. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finalised toll rates for the 71-km stretch between Hedigenabele (near Hoskote) and Sundarapalya (near KGF), which has been unofficially open for over seven months. The toll collection will begin once all systems are integrated and local coordination is completed, as per Hindustan Times. How Much Will It Cost? For cars and jeeps, a one-way trip from Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya will cost Rs 185, with the return journey priced at Rs 275. Interestingly, the reverse direction will cost slightly more— Rs 190 for a single trip and Rs 285 for a return. Frequent travellers can opt for a monthly pass: Rs 6,105 in one direction and Rs 6,260 in reverse, covering 50 trips. What About Other Vehicles? LCVs, LGVs & Minibuses: Rs 295 one-way, Rs 445 return (Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya). Rates increase slightly in the opposite direction. Heavy Trucks & Buses: Rs 620 one-way, Rs 930 return from Hedigenabele. From Sundarapalya, charges are Rs 635 and Rs 955 respectively. Where Will the Tolls Be Collected? There will be four toll plazas at Hedigenabele, Agrahara, Krishnarajapura, and Sundarapalya. The toll system will be distance-based. The expressway, designed for high-speed travel (up to 120 kmph), strictly bans two-wheelers. But with incomplete fencing, many bikers have been sneaking in, leading to safety concerns. NHAI is now seeking permission to deploy home guards at key points and toll plazas to prevent such violations until full boundary walls are in place.
