Best Knicks vs. Pistons Player Props, ATS Bets: Detroit Favored in Game 6
@Source: newsweek.com
A look at the Knicks (3) vs. Pistons (6) series winner odds markets -- where Detroit's odds to advance remain just shorter than 4-to-1 -- shows that despite New York's loss in Game 5, Jalen Brunson and Co. are still well positioned to survive this matchup.But after nailbiting wins in Games 3 and 4 and a close loss at home in Game 5, the Knicks are slight road underdogs in Game 6.Tonight's showdown tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.Knicks vs. Pistons Game 6 Betting Odds +1.5 (-110) +1.5 (-108) +1.5 (-110) -1.5 (-110) -1.5 (-112) -1.5 (-110) 212.5 (o-110; u-110) 214 (o-112; u-108) 214 (o-110; u-110) Knicks vs. Pistons Series Winner Odds DraftKings: NYK: -500; DET +380 FanDuel: NYK: -490; DET +380 Best Knicks vs. Pistons Game 6 Player PropsAusar Thompson Over 10.5 Points (+112 at FanDuel) -- 1 unitThompson, a second-year player who scored 10 points or fewer in Games 1, 2, 3 and 4, exploded for 22 in Game 5 to help Detroit keep its season alive.While a player coming off a huge scoring night after four quiet ones is typically ripe for regression, the wayThompson scored his 22 points on Tuesday night hardly screamed, "fluky."He darted to the rim for one dunk or layup after another (seven dunks and one layup, to be exact) to finish the night 8-for-10 from the floor. His only misses came on a contested runner in the opening seconds and a 53-foot heave at the halftime buzzer.Both PG Cade Cunningham (8 assists, including three to Thompson) and C Jalen Duren (6 assists, including three to Thompson) punished New York for its double-teams and its lack of attention to Thompson off the ball.Thompson hasn't exactly lived at the free-throw line throughout this series -- he only took 14 total FTA in Games 1-4 -- but his double-digit FTAs in Game 5 give us another reason to like him to get to double-figures scoring tonight.He only shot 64 percent from the stripe this season, but he should knock down more than half of his FT attempts tonight at home after going just 6-for-12 from the line in Game 5.The Knicks are certainly capable of limiting, if not preventing, the easy looks Thompson feasted on in Game 5. That will be easier said than done, though, against an outstanding point guard like Cunningham, a sharp passing big in Duren and three capable shooters in Malik Measley, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Tobias Harris.We're rolling the dice banking on a player who is averaging just seven FGA per game this series. Still, 11 points feels well within reach for Thompson, who is outstanding in transition, in addition to how effective he can be as a cutter in halfcourt sets.How to Watch Knicks vs. Pistons Game 6 Tipoff: 7:30 p.m. ET Channel: TNT/truTV/Max Knicks vs. Pistons Game 6 Pick, Best BetsIt (obviously) shouldn't surprise anyone if the Knicks get a huge night from Brunson and/or Karl-Anthony Towns to pull off a series-clinching win, but I'm going with Detroit tonight.For one thing, I'd feel a lot better about Brunson dragging his team across the finish line if he had looked 100 percent in Game 5. But Brunson's coming off a rough 4-for-16 night from the floor, as Thompson's size and physicality on defense appeared to take its toll on him.Three reasons to back the Pistons tonight: A) they were unlucky to lose Games 3 and 4 at home B) their best player, Cunningham, has been effective in every game of this series (and ironically, Detroit won Game 5 despite his worst shooting night of the playoffs) C) they have -- in Beasley and Hardaway Jr. -- two dangerous shooters capable of going off for big nights if their shots are falling Knicks vs. Pistons Game 6 Best Bet: Pistons -1.5 (-110 at DraftKings) -- 1 unit Newsweek may earn an affiliate commission if you sign up through the links in this article.
