Best Warriors vs. Timberwolves Player Props, ATS Bets: MIN To Close It Out?
@Source: newsweek.com
With Stephen Curry sidelined, Golden State (7) has had its moments in its second-round matchup vs. Minnesota (6), but it enters Game 5 on Wednesday night as a massive underdog.Unfortunately for the Warriors, Curry will once again be unavailable tonight. He could recover from his hamstring strain in time to suit up for Game 6, but that would require a massive upset win on the road by Golden State tonight.The Warriors led Games 3 and 4 at halftime, but Minnesota's balance and athleticism were too much down the stretch of those games for Golden State, which is heavily relying on Jimmy Butler III and Jonathan Kuminga offensively.No other Warriors have been able to consistently get going vs. the physical T-Wolves. Buddy Hield has been relatively quiet since scoring 24 points in Game 1, while Brandin Podziemski and Draymond Green are averaging 7.5 and 10.8 points per game, respectively, in this matchup.The Wolves, on the other hand, have gotten one big night after another from both Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, who are averaging a total of nearly 52 points per game vs. the Warriors.Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 5 Odds +10.5 (-110) +10.5 (-110) +10.5 (-110) -10.5 (-110) -10.5 (-110) -10.5 (-110) 202.5 (o-110; u-110) 203 (o-114; u-106) 203 (o-110; u-110) How to Watch Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 5 Tipoff: 9:30 p.m. ET Channel: TNT/truTV/Max Warriors vs. Wolves Game 5 Player PropsJulius Randle Over 21.5 Points (-115 at DraftKings) -- 1 unitEdwards is the single-biggest reason the Timberwolves are 7-2 in this year's playoffs, but Randle is not far behind him.The three-time All-Star did not exactly thrive in the playoffs as a Knick, but he's been an offensive force for Minnesota in his first playoff run alongside Edwards.Randle is averaging 24.3 points per game in this series despite struggling in Game 1. He finished the series opener with 18 points on just 4-for-11 FG shooting. But he's scored 24 points or more in each of the last three games on 31-for-61 shooting from the floor (6-for-18 3PT).He also finished Game 2 with 11 assists, and he followed that up with a 24-point, 12-assist, 10-rebound triple-double in Game 3.A look at his shot charts for each game explains why Randle has been so successful: he's taking the vast majority of his shots in this series in the paint, including a handful of dunks and layups per game.Julius Randle Game-by-Game Shooting Stats vs. Golden StateBelow is a look at Randle's shot diet in this series: 3-point (%) Mid-Range (%) Game 1 (18 pts) 4/11 (36.4) Game 2 (24 pts) 10/17 (58.8) 8/12 (66.6) Game 3 (24 pts) 10/23 (43.5) 9/17 (52.9) Game 4 (31 pts) 11/21 (52.4) Outside of Game 4, Randle has either been bullying his way into the paint or taking catch-and-shoot threes, and that approach has allowed him to put up big numbers despite mostly struggling from outside.Based on not only his numbers in this series, but how and where he's doing his damage, Randle is a great bet to score at least 22 points tonight, even though his over is not exactly juicy at -115.So, if you're looking for some upside, J. Randle Randle 25+ points (+168 at FanDuel) is also worth a look.Warriors vs. Wolves Game 5 Pick, Best BetsNo one should be surprised if the veteran Warriors once again start this game strong and jump out to a halftime lead.But even if Golden State plays well in the first half, I don't think this version of this team will be able to hang with the Wolves for 48 minutes at Target Center (assuming, of course, that Minnesota avoids the horrific 3-point shooting nights that have plagued it more than once this postseason).With that in mind, let's go with the Wolves to cover the big spread. I think this game will get one-sided by the final minutes, even if the Warriors are within striking distance going into the fourth quarter.The biggest concern here if you're taking the Wolves is the possibility of them taking their foot off the gas.But with everyone in the Minnesota organization well aware of Curry's possible return in a hypothetical Game 6, I expect Edwards and Co. to lock in and take care of business. While this Warriors team has plenty of championship experience, this Curry-less vserion does not have nearly enough shot-making to off the upset.Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 5 Best Bets: Wolves -10.5 (-110 at DK, FD, bet365) -- 1 unit Warriors Team Total Under 96.5 (-110 at FD) -- 1 unit Newsweek may earn an affiliate commission if you sign up through the links in this article.
