RORY McIlroy's updated social media bio had fans laughing "Bet he enjoyed changing that". April 2025 will be forever etched in his mind as the time he finally fulfilled his long-standing goal of completing the career Grand Slam by winning The Masters. So it's understandable why he'd take a moment to gloat when changing his social media bio. Previously it had read: "I hit a little white ball around a field sometimes." But as pointed out by golf journalist Sam Harrop, it now simply states: "Grand Slam winner." He tweeted: "I imagine he enjoyed making that update." In a similar vein, Fatima Naeem hailed: "What an incredible achievement, truly deserved!" While the 35-year-old did fly home to Northern Ireland after his historic triumph, there was no great homecoming celebrations as he opted to keep things very low-key. He's back stateside this week as he's competing alongside Shane Lowry with the pair trying to defend their title at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. On the eve of the team event, he finally revealed why his parents hadn't been with him at Augusta National. Gerry and Rosie missed out on seeing him lay his Masters demons to rest in the flesh as they had just moved house and so were in the midst of a hectic few days. Appearing on Michael Breed’s SiriusXM show, the Down native laughed: "They said it was a good thing. “They were glad they had something to do to take their mind off what was happening at The Masters.” As for when he first spoke to them after finally getting his hands on the Green Jacket? The 35-year-old detailed a "very emotional" phone call they shared shortly after he got away from the ceremony of Butler Cabin and all of the media attention that goes with it afterwards at the second trophy presentation on the 18th green. He outlined: “Very emotional. It was amazing to relive the week — and not just relive the week but the entire journey we’ve been on to get to this point. “Being an only child, I obviously have an extremely close bond with my parents, and to be able to share this with them was incredibly special.” He also admitted he could get used to his new signifier as he and pal Lowry began their tournament defence on Thursday. The Holywood hero is still on a high after completing the career Grand Slam — and was introduced as "Masters champion" when he teed off at TPC Louisiana. McIlroy, who also won The Players Championship last month, smiled: “I was glad they remembered The Players as well — it seems like a distant memory. "Look, very nice. I could get used to it.”
