Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the upcoming 'Bharat Summit 2025', to be held on April 25 and 26 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, will firmly place Telangana and Hyderabad on the global map.In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday, Bhatti said the summit, themed Delivering Global Justice, would showcase Telangana's pioneering social justice initiatives. These include Scheduled Castes sub-categorisation, a caste census, enhanced reservations for OBCs and a broad spectrum of welfare schemes aimed at uplifting marginalised communities. He said the event would be attended by top AICC leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, and will serve to reinforce Telangana’s position as a global platform for democratic and progressive policy discourse.“This is a defining moment for Telangana,” Bhatti averred. “The Bharat Summit will bring together over 350 delegates from more than 95 countries, including former heads of state, ministers, political leaders, scholars and representatives from 25 international think tanks. The event will honour India’s legacy in global justice while presenting Telangana as a forward-thinking state dedicated to democracy and inclusive governance,” informed the Deputy Chief Minister.Highlighting the summit’s core message, Bhatti said, “The theme ‘Delivering Global Justice’ resonates with the NYAY (justice) framework championed by our leader, Rahul Gandhi. Social justice is not a slogan but the bedrock of the Congress party’s vision.” He explained that the Telangana government’s ongoing welfare initiatives — including free supply of fine rice to 85 per cent of the population, the Mahalakshmi free bus service for women, free electricity up to 200 units for households, and subsidised LPG cylinders at Rs 500 — were key components of this vision.Bhatti said the summit is being organised in collaboration with the Samruddha Bharat Foundation and coincides with the 70th anniversary of the historic Bandung Conference — a precursor to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The two-day event will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions on economic justice, climate justice, pluralism and multilateralism. These sessions will explore the relevance of these principles in an increasingly polarised world while also reflecting on the NYAY framework.Bhatti said the summit would also serve as a platform to promote Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Telangana Rising vision which aims to position the state as a destination for global investment and innovation. “We want to show the world that Telangana is not just progressing, but leading in progressive governance. This summit is about diplomacy, justice and forging economic and strategic partnerships that benefit our people,” he said. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed hope that the Bharat Summit would become an annual event in the future. “We are proud to host a global dialogue from Hyderabad. This is our step towards building a just, inclusive and prosperous future — not just for Telangana, but for the world,” he added.
