New Delhi: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are encountering a major challenge before the IPL 2025 season, as important fast bowler Mayank Yadav will be unavailable for the early matches due to an injury. Mayank, who showcased remarkable performances in IPL 2024, sustained a lumbar stress injury while playing for Team India in a T20 match against Bangladesh. He is not yet fully recovered and will take some time to regain his fitness.
Mayank has begun bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), but it appears he may not be ready for the start of the season. While there is no specific timeline for his return, it is anticipated that he could be back by the conclusion of the IPL season.
The Lucknow Super Giants had kept Mayank for Rs 11 crore prior to the major auction, recognizing his ability to influence matches with his fast bowling, frequently exceeding speeds of 150 km/h. His unavailability will certainly impact the team’s bowling lineup, and new captain Rishabh Pant is likely to feel disheartened by this development.
Mayank’s influence has been significant in the four matches played this season, even though he has participated in fewer games. His absence during the initial stages of IPL 2025 is certainly felt by the team on the field.
