Bogeyman Gerwyn Price puts the frighteners on Luke Littler again as champion crashes out in Dublin

Toiling Luke Littler piped down the Dublin doubters but he couldn’t scare off bogeyman Gerwyn Price who was roared home by the Irish. The World Champion suffered yet another loss to the Welshman to go out at the quarter-final stage of the Premier League Night Three. Incredibly, it was the FIFTH straight win for Price over Littler as he stormed to a 6-4 success. Littler was up against it against The Iceman and, as the pressure built at 4-1 down, he had to contend with some grief as aimed for a shot to get back into the game. The Nuke hit it and immediately turned around and motioned for the mouths to keep quiet. However, Price would not be silenced and he just has Littler’s number at the moment. He seems to relish the joust. Littler was a mixed bag of magic of missed shots. Brilliance and then blunders. Price just kept it on the even keel and ploughed his way through, not handing out any gifts. Six perfect darts to start the key final leg was ideal timing as the Welshman moved into the semis to meet Luke Humphries and The Nuke headed home. Price said before the game he didn’t feel as if he was a bogeyman to Littler. The World No.2 said the same, but the outcome was similar to the previous four clashes. The victor said: “I want to be a tough nut to crack for every player and that’s where I used to be, I used to be there maybe two or three years ago, but I sort of slipped off the radar a little bit. But I’m coming back and I probably wouldn’t have won that game without the crowd, they were fantastic for me. It’s like Cardiff all over, I think they feel sorry for us Welsh rugby players!”
