Boulder Announces Labor Day Facility Closures and Special Hours, Outdoor Activities Open with Precautions
@Source: hoodline.com
Boulder residents and visitors planning their Labor Day weekend can expect a mix of city facility closures and special hours on Monday, September 1. As officially announced, City of Boulder administrative facilities, including all Age Well Centers, will not be open during the holiday. However, those looking to beat the heat will find refuge at Scott Carpenter Pool and North Boulder Recreation Center, operating from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., while East Boulder Community Center and South Boulder Recreation Center will remain closed.
Outdoor enthusiasts won't need to curtail their plans as Boulder Reservoir is scheduled to be accessible from dawn until dusk. Swimmers can enjoy the water from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with boaters having to get off the water by 8 p.m., ensuring the exit gates can close promptly at 9 p.m. Those looking to hit the links should take advantage of the Flatirons Golf Course, which is set to fully open from sunrise to sunset for those coveted tee times.
According to the City of Boulder, urban explorers will also be able to roam on Open Space and Mountain Parks trails, which remain open. A visit to OSMPTrails.org will yield ten tips to help the community enjoy and protect these natural open spaces while trekking around Boulder's scenic trails.
For those reliant on public transportation, the local HOP bus service is prepared to operate, albeit on holiday hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., maintaining a steady 23-minute frequency. The HOP is additionally set to begin service on its expanded route the following day, Tuesday, Sept. 2. Within the city park boundaries, Boulder adheres strictly to emergency fire regulation rules: no fires or grill use, a ban on alcohol, and the dog leash law stays in effect.
With parking being a premium during holidays, Boulder offers free parking on city streets and in all city-owned lots and downtown garages. The sole exception applies to on-street parking in the vicinity of Chautauqua Park, where paid parking and a free shuttle service to the park are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Park to Park shuttle program culminates its 2025 season over the Labor Day weekend, from Saturday, August 30 to Monday, September 1.
