Moorestown senior Brady Crow was the only golfer to shoot even par 72 under sunny skies Monday at Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel.
Hence, he is the new Burlington County Open individual champion.
He had four birdies on the day highlighted by crucial back-to-back birdies on the par 5, 503-yard 13th hole and the par 4, 383-yard 14th hole to get back to 1-under in his round.
Crow outlasted Rancocas Valley sophomore and runner-up Landon Finsen (2-over 74) and Cinnaminson freshman Jackson Lane (3-over 75) placed third.
Shawnee senior Ryan Lindh (5-over 77) and Burlington Township senior Brady Roberson (5-over 77) finished in a two-way tie for fifth.
“Today was the first win of my career after finishing second place three times last year with one of them at this tournament. I didn’t look at the leaderboard at all during the round, but I knew something around even par would have a good chance to get it done. I still left a couple shots out there that could have helped get it done in the team competition, but I finished strong and put up a good number,” said Crow, who will be attending Ole Miss to study accounting and maybe play club golf.
Cinnaminson (316), led by Lane’s third-place finish collected the team title by two shots over Shawnee (318). Moorestown (323), Cherokee (326), and Lenape (335) rounded out the top five.
Other Pirate golfers to contribute to the win: junior Tyler Harris and junior Matson Zimmerman (8-over 80, four-way tie for ninth); sophomore Lucas Donnan (81); sophomore JP McDevitt (83).
“It was a great day for the team. We won the 2015 Burlington County Open as a team. It’s my understanding this is our second ever team county championship,” said Cinnaminson head coach Bret Jenkins, who has in his 11th season at the helm.
“This is great preparation for the Carl Arena tournament which coming up on Thursday and then for sectionals coming up next Tuesday.”
13 teams (67 golfers) competed on the par 72, 6,390-yard layout.
