David Beckham wasn’t the only sports star in the room for his 50th birthday party! On Sunday, March 30, a month before his milestone birthday on May 2, the retired soccer pro celebrated with fellow big-name athletes like Tom Brady and Lionel Messi. “So I thought I'd start celebrating slightly early, such a special night in Miami,” Beckham wrote in an Instagram post the next day, captioning seven photos from the black-tie bash at Cipriani Downtown Miami in Florida. “So lucky to have amazing friends and family to start the 50th celebrations with.” His guests ranged from the former New England Patriots quarterback to basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and members of Inter Miami CF, the professional soccer team that Beckham co-owns. Messi, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets were all present and sporting neat black suits to celebrate the six-time Premier League title winner. The soccer legend’s wife, Victoria Beckham, orchestrated the elegant event, which involved dinner, drinks and music by DJ D-Nice at Cipriani's Socialista lounge. In a family photo, the couple posed next to their children, sons Romeo and Cruz, plus daughter Harper. (The couple also shares son Brooklyn, who wasn’t in the photo.) Beckham later took to Instagram Stories to show off the family picture, writing “Love you all.” The star wasn’t afraid to poke fun at himself, especially standing next to such tall basketball and football players. “I’m so small,” wrote Beckham in Instagram Stories, captioning another photo of himself standing between O’Neal and Brady. Other attendees included notable names like Justin Theroux, Marc Anthony, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Beckham’s longtime friend and business partner David Gardner. For Beckham, the star-studded celebration was an extension of his attitude about getting older. “Doesn’t bother me one bit,” Beckham told Men’s Health in an exclusive interview tied to his approaching birthday. He’s the only English soccer player to score in three separate World Cups, according to the National Football Museum. Beyond winning World Cups, he’s also won two FA Cups and gained a global following for his infamously-bending goal-scoring kick.
