Netherlands youth international Lamare Bogarde has signed a new contract with Aston Villa. The 21-year-old had only signed a new contract with the club back in August 2024, but Villa wanted to reward him for his progress in recent months. After impressing in pre-season, Bogarde remained in Unai Emery's squad and made six appearances before the New Year. He has since added another 10 appearances in this calendar year, showcasing his versatility by playing in multiple roles, including right-back, centre-back, and defensive midfield. “Lamare Bogarde, he is helping us,” Emery said in February. “At the beginning of the season when we needed it, really doing a very great job, always. His personality is very important." Bogarde joined Villa from Feyenoord in 2020 and made his first-team debut in an FA Cup third round tie against Liverpool in January 2021. He finished that campaign helping Villa win the FA Youth Cup and has since enjoyed a couple of loan spells at Bristol Rovers. What do you make of the news?
