A 15-year-old boy has been killed in a collision at a Bradford McDonald's with police making a "drug driving" arrest.
The teen was hit outside the fast food outlet at about 10:45pm on Bradford Road in Eccleshill, on Friday. West Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Enquiry Team has appealed for witnesses who saw the collision to come forward. The teen had reportedly been crossing the road when he was struck by a VW Golf GTI, which had been travelling away from Five Lane Ends. Emergency services raced to the scene shortly after the incident happened.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries but died shortly after midnight on Saturday. A 35-year-old man who alleged drove the vehicle at the time of the collision stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and death by dangerous driving.
He remained in police custody as of Saturday morning. Detective Inspector Paul Conroy of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team said "A number of enquiries remain ongoing into this very serious incident which has resulted in a 15-year-old male tragically losing his life.
"We are working to support his parents and are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the black VW Golf or teenager just prior to the collision taking place. We would also like to speak with anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist enquiries."
Anyone with any information is encouraged to call 101, or visit the police website here, citing reference police log 2225 of April 4. The Mirror has contacted West Yorkshire Police for comment.
