Rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll will be celebrating his 15th year wedding anniversary to Amy Huberman this year, but how do the couple plan to mark the milestone? “We’d like to go on holiday,” Brian tells RSVP. “We can only select our destination late because of my wife’s career, so we will have to wait and see. I like France, we’ve been to Portugal in the past, and Spain. Maybe we will go to Italy next time, we haven’t been there as a family.” Since tying the knot in the stunning Lough Rynn Castle in Co Leitrim in 2010, the pair have welcomed three children: Sadie, Billy and Ted. Brian says he is careful not to push his children towards playing rugby if they aren't interested in it. “They’ll do their own thing, they all have their interests, I wouldn’t force them in any particular direction. Three people are always going to be very different personalities, so leave them fly their own kites.” He also opened up about his own family, saying that his parents and two older sisters were very important to getting him to where he is today. “They are your foundation for everything, they were my support network on good and bad days. On bad days, they are there to pick you up, and on good days they are there to keep your feet on the ground. “I’ve got two older sisters and there’s no favouritism at home, at dinner you are open season just like they are. If you’re out of line, [they keep you in check]. It’s like every family, irrespective of your career, it’s not different in sports, men or women. We are all the same.” Brian was speaking at an event supporting a new partnership between Guinness and Field of Vision, an accessibility device which will allow blind and visually impaired rugby fans to experience matches in a different way. The Field of Vision device uses touch-based technology and a bespoke haptic language to allow visually impaired fans to feel every tackle, try and kick instantly, as well as knowing precisely where the play is happening on the pitch. The devices made their rugby debut at the Guinness Men’s Six Nations, during Ireland’s opening fixture against England, with 15 visually impaired fans making use of the device. Fifteen units will also be used by members of Voice of Vision Impairment Ireland for the upcoming Ireland v France match on 8 March at the Aviva Stadium. Field of Vision's AI-powered cameras track the ball's every move in real-time, relaying the data to handheld devices held by visually impaired fans. A magnetic "ball" within the device mimics the action on the field, vibrating and shifting to represent passes, tackles, and tries. For Ireland’s Guinness Men’s Six Nations fixtures, this technology was enhanced with accompanying radios, connected to RTÉ Radio 1 commentary, allowing the users to both feel and hear the match.
