In what it described as the affirmation of his giant strides in the governance of Lagos State, the Broadcast Talents Nigeria, a station dedicated to entrenching the culture of broadcasting and presentation in the youths, has honoured Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with an Action Governor Award
In a well-attended ceremony that took place in Lagos recently, the company admitted the many works the governor has been doing, noting that such won’t go unnoticed.
Speaking on why the governor deserved the honour, the Chairman of Broadcast Talents Nigeria, Dr. Godwin O. Tobi, said Sanwo-Olu has shown capability to tackle challenges in Lagos State, saying he has demonstrated character to manage the affairs of the state.
“He has shown that he is capable to tackle the challenges that we have Lagos State,” he said.
“Looking through the different facets and areas of governance, we can safely and categorically ascertain that Mr. Governor is an action governor without any iota of doubt.
“The health, transportation, economic, educational, security, power supply and infrastructural sectors have benefited tremendously from his calculated and dedicated approach to making Lagos State work better than before he took over in 2019.He is resolute in his activities to perfect what comes to his table,
“We have found that amongst other state governors, he had always held hisown. In 2019, he was awarded the most MSME Friendly Governor of the year.
“He had always been a good leader, setting examples in governance that areenviable and worthy of emulation. Good leadership comes naturally to him,” Dr. Tobi said.
He continued; “Our governor is an embodiment of courage, tolerance, determination, wisdom and humility. All these had helped his leadership posture.”
Meanwhile, receiving the award on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu, Otunba Henry Ajomale, former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, and a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who was also honoured by the company as an Ambassador, appreciated the honour bestowed on the state chief executive.
He said; “I want this medal and that of the government. The most important thing is to be recognised. And for us, what has been done today is certainly going to boost the works of Mr.Governor because this is a grassroots award and I think it’s very important,” he said.
On his own award as an Ambassador, he said; “It’s an appreciation of what they consider me to be. And you may not see, but they have seen what we are doing. That is impressive and I appreciate it and I thank God for the organisation that presented it to us.
“I pray for God’s grace and God’s development upon the organisation. I’m sure next year they will be able to do better than this.
“They say reward for hard work is always more. So I think they will do better than what they did this year. This year too is very good.”
While speaking on the vision of the company, Mr. Ademola Abdulmajid Bankole, the proprietor and Managing Director of Broadcasting Talent Nigeria, said the aim is to expose the youths to the world of broadcasting and presentation, saying the essence is to use broadcasting as a tool to solve Nigeria’s many problems.
He noted that it was high time Nigerian youths embody the culture of presentation, noting that the platform is opened to schools and other clusters for excursions in order to deepen presentation and broadcasting among the youths.
“We have a project for the enhancement of the youth’s participation in international presentations, and we believe that means broadcasting,” he said while in a chat with journalists.
“We have decided that it is not only the government alone that can champion the preparation of the youth for the challenges ahead, so we started by harnessing resources, identifying areas where we can get advantages to use on behalf of the youth.
“I can say that if broadcasting is done properly in Nigeria, 60% of the problems of this country are solved. A lot of people may not see that yet, but when America was evolving, it was using and harnessing the broadcasting technology more than any other thing.
“What this means is that every kid in America today embodies the culture of presentation. Whether you are rich or poor, once you are able to present yourself, you stand a chance of facing the society.
“But here, people will tell you he dropped out of school because his parents cannot pay his fees whereas this child is gifted, and if the child can just learn the art of presentation, he or she doesn’t need the wealth of the parents to thrive educationally,” he said.
He said further; “We are the ones now laying the framework of the new broadcasting technology for people to thrive in.
“The incubating chapter is what we call the kiddie studio. If you wait until you want to build something big, you will be lost in the preparation. We started in a very small way and today, we have built a studio where we are now going to be inviting excursions from primary and nursery schools.
“They will come and watch how presentation is being done. We will be inviting people who are in the media. We will now teach the children how to use search engines in a more acceptable form instead of going to the realms of X-rated films and videos.
“We have a game session in the studio. Somebody was asking, why games? Games are more to nurture brains; if you teach a child how to play golf, you are already teaching that child how to understand the golf regulation, how to understand the part of the technology of golf because by using the golf club, you are already teaching them,” he said.
