The ACT Brumbies have moved into second place on the Super Rugby Pacific ladder after a dominant 24–0 win over Moana Pasifika in Pukekohe on Saturday.Despite slippery conditions and a physical contest, the Brumbies showed composure and class to shut out the home side completely, marking the first time this season Moana Pasifika has failed to register a point. The match was tightly contested early, with both sides struggling to control possession. After 40 minutes of pressure, it was Brumbies winger Corey Toole who finally broke the deadlock with a well-timed try just before halftime, giving the visitors a 5–0 lead at the break.Momentum swung further in the Brumbies' favour in the second half. Replacement hooker Billy Pollard made a major impact off the bench, scoring two tries from powerful rolling mauls that highlighted the Brumbies’ set-piece dominance. Declan Meredith nailed two late conversions, stretching the lead and securing a valuable bonus point.Tom Wright also added a late assist to set up Toole’s second try, sealing the result and capping off an all-round performance from the Canberra-based side.Moana Pasifika came close on several occasions but couldn’t convert their pressure into points. A disallowed try for Fine Inisi in the first half, plus multiple handling errors and missed opportunities, left the home side frustrated. Veteran Julian Savea returned to the starting lineup but was unable to make a major impact. With the win, the Brumbies now sit second on the ladder with a firm grip on a home playoff spot. Coach Stephen Larkham praised his side’s discipline and defensive grit, particularly after holding out a relentless Moana attack in the opening 40 minutes. For Moana, it was a step back after promising signs earlier in the season. Their attacking structures faltered under pressure, and they’ll need to regroup quickly ahead of the final rounds. The Brumbies next face the Crusaders in what could be a defining clash in the race for the top two, while Moana Pasifika continue their search for consistency and execution.
