Bruno Fernandes Man United transfer latest - Ruben Amorim stance, 'secret meeting', £200m bid

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes remains the subject of intense transfer speculation as Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal push for his signature. The 30-year-old was United's only shining light this season with 19 goals and 20 assists ultimately saving the club from relegation. Ahead of the Club World Cup next month, it seems Al Hilal are keen to tie down Fernandes and are pulling out all the stops to get him to sign. Currently, it is business as usual for Fernandes as he is with the United squad on their post-season tour of Asia. However, behind the scenes, it appears plenty of work is being undertaken. MEN Sport has rounded up all of the latest news surrounding Fernandes' rumoured exit, below. On Thursday night, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Fernandes' agent Miguel Pinho travelled to Saudi Arabia to meet with Al Hilal officials about the proposal given to the United captain. Earlier this week, the Saudi club gave the ultimatum to Fernandes that he had until Thursday to agree personal terms with them. It is believed they are willing to pay him £200m over the entirety of his stay at the club. On top of that, they are willing to offer United £100m to allow him to join them before the Club World Cup. The meeting was described as 'productive' and Pinho was pictured outside the Four Seasons in Riyadh where it is believed the secret rendezvous took place. Jacobs added that United remain unchanged with their stance on Fernandes. They do not want to lose their captain and key player this summer. As for Ruben Amorim, he was asked about Fernandes this week in his press conference. The United boss echoed the stance of the club. "You can see by the performance, you can see by the leadership, the passion that he has for the game, so he’s really important," Amorim explained in Malaysia. "You could see that in the last game [Sunday’s 2-0 win against Aston Villa]. "I felt that the team was without pressure and they performed quite well, everybody wants the ball. But we had some difficult moments and in those difficult moments you can see that Bruno is the guy that takes that responsibility. "He should be because he’s the captain, he’s experienced, so he’s really important for us, and really important for what we want to build with this team." Speculation surrounding Fernandes' future was fueled last week following the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur. The Portuguese midfielder admitted that he would leave if the club decided the time was right to cash in on him. "I have always been honest," he explained. "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it's what it is. "I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go. I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days. "The day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way." Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
