Bryson DeChambeau reveals what scares him as he salutes honest rival while turning down the volume
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Thoughtful Bryson DeChambeau says it’s scary to be open with his words and he now has a long think about what he has to say. In his younger days, the brash American dropped himself into hot water and fell out of favour due to some of his controversial comments. But DeChambeau is turning down the volume and preferring to concentrate on the positive aspects as he insisted it’s good for golf stars to speak their minds. Max Homa admitted this week that being so honest and emotional in public about his recent problems in the game can not always have a positive effect, but his compatriot commends the way he slung the doors open to his fans with his honesty. DeChambeau, who is bang in the mix at the PGA Championship , said: “Look, I think it’s important the way it’s presented. “Coming from a light-hearted position, sometimes the openness can be scary and I commend Max for being that way and I think people should respect him for that. “I was very much like that early on and I’m a little more, kind of, focused on what I’m going to say, what I intend to say now. “But I think it’s great, the more players that we can have that are more open out here, I think that’s only going to benefit the game of golf. “I think once you see how much good we actually can do for the game and what we’re trying to do for the game, I hope people can see that for the light that it is and I commend Max for doing that. “For me, yeah, you can say there’s been times where I’ve been too open and now it’s a matter of just showing more of just who I am.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
