BTC, the leading telecommunications provider in The Bahamas, has announced a new partnership with Olympian and world record-holder Devynne Charlton, marking another “Blue Letter Day” in the company’s history. The signing ceremony recently took place at Charlton’s alma mater, St. Augustine’s College. BTC’s CEO, Sameer Bhatti emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting athletes and inspiring youth. “The partnership is fitting as Devynne is the best in the world, and BTC continues to be recognized as best and fastest. We are inextricably linked to sports, and we are proud to continue our legacy of supporting our athletes and demonstrating that with a dream and ambition, anything is possible. We are proud of Devynne’s achievements, and we are happy to welcome her to the BTC team,” said BTC CEO, Sameer Bhatti. Charlton is an accomplished athlete, most recently defending her crown in the women’s 60 meters hurdles in March at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in China. The proud Bahamian holds the world record in the event of 7.65 seconds which she set at last year’s Championships in Glasgow. “Making this announcement at Devynne’s high school, was simply electric. It was amazing to see the reactions of the students just having her there. We also took this opportunity to make a donation to St. Augustine’s athletic department to further their efforts. We have seen many star athletes originate from SAC including former BTCendorsed athletes, Shaunae Miller and Anthonique Strachan,” Bhatti said. The endorsement contract valued at $30,000 will extend for a one-year period, and Charlton will appear in a series of marketing campaigns during that time. “BTC has been a strong supporter of youth and athletics for years, and I am proud to join the company as a brand ambassador. I look forward to a great partnership,” she said. Last year, the company was the title sponsor of the BTC World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24, and Charlton now joins the Golden Girls and Golden Knight – Tonique Williams-Darling, Ariana Vanderpool-Wallace, Shaunae Miller, and Steven Gardiner – who have all received endorsements from BTC. The company has also supported the annual CARIFTA track and field championships for many years, in addition to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, High School Nationals, the Bahamas Olympics Association, the Bahamas BasketballFederation, and the BTC IAAF World Relays. Bodine Johnson also continues as a BTC brand ambassador. Charlton is known for her sportsmanship and positive influence on and off the track. She serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and continues to encourage them to pursue their dreams with excellence. She has hosted three free hurdles clinics in New Providence and Grand Bahama, and plans to make the clinic an annual event, eventually expanding to other Family Islands. BTC reaffirms its commitment to nation-building through investments in youth, sports, and culture, aiming to create opportunities for young Bahamians to excel.
