Mick Byrne will stick with his Fiji Water Flying Fijians coaching staff from last year.
He will maintain the same staff for the July Tests against Australia and Scotland on July 6 and 12 respectively.
The head coach was assisted by Chiefs forwards coach Graham Dewes, attack coach Aaron Mauger, kicking coach Seremaia Bai along with strength and conditioning coach David Silvester.
Dewes, Bai and Silvester were part of the Flying Fijians squad that reached the 2023 Rugby World Cup quarterfinal.
Mauger is a former All Blacks second-five eighth. He was also the Highlanders and Moana Pasifika head coach.
“The staff has not changed. Hopefully our intention is they will be able to stay on for the Rugby World Cup (2027),” Byrne said.
The former Fijian Drua coach will name his squad in a few weeks’ time before they assemble in Newcastle on June 27.
Byrne indicated they are looking forward to be hosted by the Wallabies seeing how their teams have performed in this year’s Super Rugby Pacific.
He said international teams always step-up during a British & Irish Lions tour.
“They’ve been involved in series against the Lions and there’s a lot of excitement in the camp around that.
“Playing the Wallabies after a good season with their players on the home Test proving that they want to be part of the Lions series, so we’ve got a big challenge in front of us.
“I know our boys will be excited; they like playing Australia because there’s a lot of family close to home and it’ll be a good challenge.
“I’m guessing the Australian super teams would be pretty excited to perform well, which they’ve done this year.
“We’ve got the Brumbies and the Reds, they look like they’re going to be participating in the finals.
“I would say that the Test match against us will be a real big chance for all those Australian players that are selected in that Test match to say, I’m good enough to play in the Lions.
“They’ll be up for it so we’ve got a big challenge.”
The Flying Fijians will take on the Wallabies at McDonalds Jones Stadium, Newcastle at 3:30pm.
