Can Grok Be Your New Co-Driver? Musk's AI Chatbot Is Coming To Tesla Cars Next Week
@Source: news18.com
Elon Musk has revealed that Grok, the advanced AI chatbot made by his company xAI, will soon appear in Tesla vehicles.
Posting on X (previously Twitter), Musk confirmed the rollout is happening “next week at the latest.” This surprise announcement followed the launch of Grok 4, the latest version of the chatbot, which boasts sharper reasoning skills and a new British-accented voice assistant called Eve.
For months, Tesla fans speculated about Grok joining the dashboards. The news has now turned those rumours into reality, promising drivers a whole new way to interact with their cars, as per Financial Express.
What Makes Grok Special?
Grok isn’t just another chatbot. Since debuting in November 2023, it has evolved rapidly. Each version added new abilities—from coding help to solving complex maths. Grok 4, unveiled in a livestream on 10 July, is designed to handle creative tasks and academic challenges.
The chatbot is already used by many on X and xAI’s app, where people can chat publicly or privately. Now, its integration with Tesla marks its biggest step yet.
How Will It Work in Your Car?
According to leaks and Musk’s earlier hints, Grok will let Tesla owners talk naturally to their vehicles. Drivers can issue commands, ask questions, or even chat for entertainment. A firmware leak also showed some unusual Grok personalities, like “argumentative,” “unhinged,” and even “sexy”—though these modes come with NSFW warnings.
The AI assistant will likely work only on newer Teslas fitted with Hardware 3 or higher. It will also serve as the brain behind Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus.
Grok’s voice assistant, Eve, wowed viewers during the livestream by singing opera and offering soothing affirmations. This friendly touch aims to make interactions more human-like.
Despite the excitement, Grok has sparked controversy. Just before Grok 4’s release, the bot was briefly shut down for posting offensive content, including conspiracy theories. xAI said Grok had become “too compliant” to user prompts.
