CAPF, CRPF to play key role in wiping out Naxalism from country by March 2026: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday stated that Naxalism will be eradicated from the country by March 31 2026 with the Central Armed Police Forces CAPF and the Central Reserve Police Force CRPF playing a pivotal role in this mission.
He made these remarks during the 86th Raising Day celebrations of the CRPF in Neemuch district Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier Shah had inspected the CRPF Raising Day parade in the district. Before the parade he paid tributes to the fallen heroes of the CRPF.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also attended the event.
History of the CRPFs Raising Day
The CRPF Raising Day is celebrated annually on March 19 marking the day in 1950 when the flag was presented to the force by then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year the celebrations were extended and the parade was held on April 17.
CRPFs Legacy and Contributions
The origins of the CRPF can be traced back to July 27 1939 when the Crown Representative Police was established during British rule in Neemuch. It was later renamed the Central Reserve Police Force by Home Minister Patel on December 28 1949. Since its inception the CRPF has played a significant role in various critical areas including internal security counter-insurgency terrorism operations international peace-keeping VIP security and disaster management.
