Carlos Alcaraz, a big fan of golf like his idol Rafael Nadal, recently spoke about his interest in the sport during an interview with the Financial Times. He mentioned that he has even arranged to play with fellow tennis pro Casper Ruud.
During Wimbledon, Alcaraz spent some of his free time on the golf course. He was often asked about his rounds with Andy Murray. Interestingly, Murray usually came out on top during their games. Alcaraz said on Financial Times:
I love playing golf and I’ve played a few courses here in the UK. With the rain we’ve had, there should be plenty of great courses! Rafa’s playing really well. Alex de Minaur is playing too. I played Andy Murray the other day and he beat me. He’s spent a lot of time on the course practicing and it shows…I also played Casper Ruud and he beat me too. Do I want revenge? Oh, of course. Next time I play him, I’ll remember he beat me at golf, and I’ll hit the ball even harder.
Alcaraz enjoys mixing his training with moments of relaxation, and golf has become one of his favorite pastimes. He finds it a good way to unwind during busy tournaments. On the tennis court, Alcaraz and Ruud have faced off in high-stakes matches. Their most memorable clash was in the 2022 US Open final, where Alcaraz claimed his first Grand Slam title.
Carlos Alcaraz refuses to behave like Novak Djokovic
Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz, one of the biggest names in tennis, has revealed that fame doesn’t shield him from his mother’s scolding. Despite winning five Grand Slam titles, including the 2025 French Open, he recently lost the Wimbledon final to Jannik Sinner. Speaking about his lifestyle during tournaments, Alcaraz admitted he handles things differently compared to players like Novak Djokovic and Sinner.
Off the court, Alcaraz has a known interest in collecting trainers. He recently showed off some of his collection at Wimbledon. His mother, however, is not a fan of his growing obsession, often criticizing him for cluttering her house with shoes and trophies.
My mother tells me off because I come back from every tournament with more sneakers and she says, ‘No, don’t bring more, there’s nowhere to put them.’
