A Carlow couple and their team have won the world title for the best chicken product at the prestigious World Butchers Olympics in Paris. Jim and Bernadette Murphy from Murphy’s Craft Butchers in Tullow were part of a six-person team representing Ireland. They showcased their exceptional skills and commitment to quality and securing global recognition for their award-winning product. Their latest win on Monday night added to their impressive achievements, following their victory in 2022 when they were awarded the title of “Best Sausage in the World.” Mr Murphy said that the success of Murphy’s Craft Butchers highlights the “talent and dedication coming from right here in Ireland.” He added: “Not the fairytale ending we were hoping for but we did win the best Chicken Product in the World for our Chicken Italiano. “A brilliant competition for the big butcher family -all winners in my eyes. I’m very proud of Bernadette, all the team members, plus all our sponsors. Without them, we would not be here.” The butcher’s has been trading for 126 years and is the fifth generation of Master Butchers based on Church Street in Tullow since 1909. “So proud of our team. We all gave 100% to get everything done. Thanks for all the support from everyone. It was a rollercoaster for sure, but the best experience of my butcher's life. Congratulations (are due) to the overall winners and hosts Team France,” added Mr Murphy.
