Celtic vs Kilmarnock: Hoops bid to inch closer to title party as Killie seek points in basement scrap – latest team news
@Source: thescottishsun.co.uk
CHAMPIONS elect Celtic can take a massive step towards their fourth Premiership title in a row as Kilmarnock arrive in town seeking respite from the pressure at the foot of the table.
Brendan Rodgers' men have been uncharacteristically sloppy in recent times and go into the match having lost two of their last three - at home to Rangers then away to bottom side St Johnstone last week.
But back on home turf, in front of a live TV audience, Rodgers' men will fancy their chances of a win which will heap pressure on Rangers as they take on Aberdeen 24 hours later.
Derek McInnes and his side will have different ideas, of course - and quite simply every point is a prisoner for the Rugby Park men right now as they bid to extricate themselves from a relegation dogfight.
They currently sit just one point clear of the two-way battle between Dundee and Ross County to avoid the relegation play-off, while a late St Johnstone resurgence as witnessed in last week's win over Celtic is the last thing they need.
In other words, they won't go down without a fight - and they have got some previous against Rodgers' Celtic team.
While the Hoops have won all three previous meetings this term, Killie took Celtic's scalp TWICE last season.
It will be instructive to see what team Brendan Rodgers picks, after the likes of Nicolas Kuhn and Jeffrey Schlupp were hooked at half time in a disappointing performance in Perth.
