A mammoth total of 312 was the standout highlight of the cricket weekend, as Central Castries defeated Dennery by a staggering 262 runs in the Prime Minister’s T20 Cup.
The Sunday afternoon fixture saw the men from the capital post the highest team total of the tournament thus far.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Central Castries suffered an early setback when in-form batsman Stephen Naitrum lost his wicket. However, the team quickly regained momentum and never looked back.
Three batsmen surpassed the 50-run mark. Young sensation Theo Edward delivered an impressive 60 off 28 balls, while Jamaal James registered a commanding 85 off 32 deliveries. The top scorer, however, was Vernilius Gabriel, who smashed a brilliant 107, propelling his team to an insurmountable total.
Central Castries were equally dominant with the ball. Dennery lost wickets at regular intervals, preventing any chance of a fightback. Dornan Edward claimed 4 for 5, while Jaden Elibox took 3 for 10, restricting the visitors to a mere 51 runs.
Following this round of fixtures, Central Castries sits comfortably atop the table and remains a formidable force to reckon with for the remainder of the competition.
