Moises Caicedo has picked up Chelsea’s two main awards for the season, while teenager Tyrique George also took home an academy prize.
It has been a stellar campaign for Caicedo, who has started all 35 of Chelsea’s Premier League matches and consistently impressed under Enzo Maresca.
That has been recognised at the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony, which took place on Sunday night after the Blues’ 3-1 win over champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
Caicedo was named both the men’s player of the season and the players’ player of the season, with Cole Palmer making it clear how much the midfielder is valued by his team-mates.
“When you’ve got him next to you it’s a dream really,” Palmer said after the Liverpool match.
“Wow, machine. From the start of the season until now I think he’s been our best player. He’s a machine, wins everything back always.
“Always 100 per cent every day, humble and nice to everyone. Everyone loves him.”
George, meanwhile, picked up the men’s academy player of the season award, in what has been a breakthrough year for the 19-year-old.
He has made seven Premier League appearances off the bench, including when he came on to score against Fulham last month, and has earned four starts in the Conference League.
Lola Brown won the women’s academy player of the season prize, while the player of the season award for Sonia Bompastor’s side went to Erin Cuthbert.
The Scottish midfielder has played a key role in the club securing a sixth consecutive WSL title and they are just one match away from going unbeaten for the entire league campaign.
“Utterly speechless, shocked, delighted,” Cuthbert said.
“I think a number of people could have won this award. I’m delighted but it’s not about individual trophies for me, it’s all about winning trophies.
“But again thanks for everybody who voted for me.”
Nathalie Bjorn was the players’ player of the season, and Marcus Bettinelli and Millie Bright were named as the PFA Community Champions.
