Chelsea player ratings vs Djurgarden: Reggie Walsh shines on full debut as Josh Acheampong impresses
@Source: standard.co.uk
Chelsea confirmed their place in the Conference League final as they beat Djurgarden 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. The Swedish club knew they had a lot to do in Thursday’s second leg following a 4-1 defeat in the first leg, and Chelsea proved too strong again, winning 1-0 thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first-half goal. Enzo Maresca’s side finished with five teenagers on the pitch, including 16-year-old Reggie Walsh, who became the club’s youngest-ever starter in Europe. Standard Sport’s Dom Smith was at Stamford Bridge to rate the Chelsea players’ performances… Filip Jorgensen 6 Made a good clawing save for a header that was then flagged offside. Had little to do. Malo Gusto 6 Up and down the right flank well, but without ever delivering that killer delivery into the box. Tosin Adarabioyo 6 Made one or two really confident interceptions. Led from the back, though was booked early. Benoit Badiashile 6 Used his strength well to hold off Djurgarden’s attackers and did what was asked of him. Josh Acheampong 7 Some lovely close control helped him beat players when going forward. A really assured display. Marc Cucurella 7 Only played for 45 minutes but was everywhere during that time, helping to keep Chelsea moving at a reasonable pace. Reece James 6 No shortage of effort from the captain, who was replaced at the 70-minute mark. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 7 The Conference League has been good for his confidence, and the Englishman duly scored again in this competition with a firm finish. Reggie Walsh 7 Became the youngest English player ever to start a European match and took to the task well, confidently carrying the ball forward and taking a shot late on. Great experience for the youngster, just 16 years and 200 days old. Tyrique George 7 The 19-year-old ran the line reasonably well, involved in a fair amount of build-up play and assisting Dewsbury-Hall. Conference League has been great for his development. Jadon Sancho 7 Tried things, combining well with Walsh and trying to venture into the Djurgarden box where he could. Shim Mheuka (Cucurella, 46’) 6 A good display from the 17-year-old, who added some directness to the attack. Trevoh Chalobah (James, 70’) 5 Fairly steady during the 20 minutes for which he was on. Genesis Antwi (Sancho, 70’) 6 Acquitted himself well on the occasion of just his second senior appearance. Just 17 years old. Not used: Sanchez, Colwill, Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Madueke, Jackson, Palmer, Caicedo, Bergstrom
