Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have kicked off a brand new chapter by welcoming their first child, baby boy Jagger Mewis-Kerr. Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have officially entered parenthood. The women’s football stars, who are engaged to be married this December, announced the arrival of their first child, a baby boy named Jagger Mewis-Kerr, in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday morning. “Our little man is here, Jagger Mewis-Kerr,” the pair wrote, captioning a tender selfie featuring the couple cuddling with their newborn. The image shows West Ham and USA midfielder Mewis resting her head on Kerr’s shoulder, while the Chelsea striker beams as baby Jagger snuggles into her arms. The announcement follows their original pregnancy reveal back in November 2024. The Matildas, teammates, and supporters alike flooded the comments section with congratulations and heart emojis, as messages of love poured in on Instagram. Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis' relationship Kerr, 31, and Mewis, 34, first made headlines in 2021 when Mewis was seen consoling Kerr on the pitch after Australia’s heartbreaking 4–3 loss to the USA at the Tokyo Olympics. What began with a post-match hug has since blossomed into one of football’s most followed love stories. The couple met shortly after Kerr’s move to London in 2019, during lockdown, with Kerr revealing during her recent court case that Mewis had boldly “slid into her DMs,” per Daily Mail. The two began dating shortly thereafter and confirmed their engagement in 2023. During her high-profile legal proceedings earlier this year, where Kerr was cleared of racially aggravated harassment, the Australian star revealed under oath that she and Mewis were expecting a baby boy. Mewis stood loyally by her fiancée throughout the trial, further solidifying the strength of their bond. While Kerr continues recovering from an ACL injury that has kept her sidelined for over a year, she’s also been making headlines for her steady return to fitness. Chelsea women's head coach Sonia Bompastor recently shared that there’s no confirmed timeline for her comeback, but signs look promising as Kerr has been spotted training back on grass and flying to Australia for sessions with the Matildas.
