Enzo Maresca’s side are looking to strengthen ahead of their Club World Cup campaign this summer and completed a £30m deal to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town last week. However, Chelsea are in a race against time with the transfer window due to close at 7pm on Tuesday evening. Chelsea have failed to reach an agreement with AC Milan for goalkeeper Mike Maignan, with the Serie A club holding out for at least £20m for the France international. Meanwhile, Chelsea have also been unable to find a breakthrough in their negotiations with Dortmund for Gittens. According to Sky Germany, Chelsea have followed up their initial €35m (£29.5m) bid, which was rejected by Dortmund, with a new offer of €50m (£42.2m). Borussia Dortmund want €65m (£54.9m) for Jamie Gittens (Getty) However, Dortmund have turned down Chelsea’s improved offer and the Bundesliga side are holding out for a €65m (£54.9m) deal for the 20-year-old. It’s understood that personal terms between Chelsea and Gittens not an issue with the winger agreeing a seven-year deal over the weekend. Gittens also has a €60m (£50.5m) release clause in his deal with Dortmund after the German club secured qualification for the Champions League on the final day of the Bundesliga season. Chelsea’s Club World Cup tournament begins against Los Angeles FC on June 16. Enzo Maresca’s side will then play Flamengo on June 20 before finishing their Group D campaign against ES Tunis on June 20. For more stories like this, check our sport page.
