Cheltenham Day One LIVE updates as Champion Hurdle takes centre stage
@Source: belfastlive.co.uk
A mouthwatering week of racing blasts into action on Tuesday as the 2025 Cheltenham Festival gets under way.
Constitution Hill will lead the headlines as the eight-year-old bids to continue his unbeaten record over hurdles in the Champion Hurdle (4pm) after missing last year's meeting. The Nicky Henderson-trained star has overcome a respiratory issue, suspected colic and lameness since winning the race in 2023.
Last year's victor State Man will be among the opposition, in addition to Gordon Elliott's Brighterdaysahead who has enjoyed an impressive season so far.
Cheltenham's opening roar is sure to be in fine voice once again and will strike a poignant moment on this occasion. The first race of the day has been named the Michael O'Sullivan Supreme Novices' Hurdle in honour of the Irish jockey who passed away last month following a fall. He won the race on Marine Nationale two years ago and the horse will be racing in the Champions Chase on day two.
Seven races await on the opening day and we will have the build up to and reaction from each throughout the day. Join us below for all of the latest news (updates courtesy of Daily Mirror).
