Chief’s Rashee Rice gets 30 days jail, NFL suspension likely after high-speed crash

Rashee Rice, wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation. The jail time will be served during the probation period. If Rice successfully completes probation, his case will be dismissed. This is because he got deferred adjudication, according to the reports. The NFL is expected to suspend him for multiple games, now that the legal case is done. The suspension will most likely happen during the 2025 NFL season. Rice was not suspended last season because the legal case was still going on. He also only played 4 games in 2024 due to a knee injury, so he missed most of the season anyway, as stated by Bleacher Report. This plea deal also ended six other cases that were connected to the crash. The crash happened on March 30, 2024. Rice was driving a Lamborghini at 119 mph, and another man, Theodore Knox, was in a Corvette going 116 mph, as per the reports. Live EventsThey were racing at high speed and then crashed. Both men ran away from the scene after the crash. In April 2024, Rice posted on social media saying he met with police and took full responsibility. His lawyer Royce West said he will turn himself in after making arrangements. Rice was picked by the Chiefs in the 2nd round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played college football at SMU, as per the reports. In his rookie year, he had 79 catches, 938 yards, and 7 touchdowns. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl in his rookie season.
