West Indies all-rounder Chinelle Henry has taken the Women's Premier League (WPL) by storm in her debut season. Her explosive 62-run knock against Delhi Capitals guided UP Warriorz to their maiden win this season. The knock was reminiscent of fellow countryman Andre Russell's famous power-hitting prowess. Although this is her first WPL season, Henry isn't new to T20 cricket with over a decade of international experience. I get to just go out there and bat, Chinelle told ESPNcricinfo. As a seasoned player, Henry has seamlessly transitioned into the WPL. This smooth integration is largely due to her clear understanding of her role within the team, a clarity she attributes to discussions with head coach Jon Lewis. I knew the task, I knew what I had to do, Henry stated after Saturday's match. You know, before I went to bat, Jon just said to me, just do what you do and have fun, she further explained. In their most recent match against the Delhi Capitals, Henry's explosive batting swung the match in the Warriorz's favor. Coming at number eight, with the team reeling at 89 for 6, she guided them to a winning total of 177 for 9. Her powerful display included hitting an 81-meter six off Arundhati Reddy's slower delivery and another one over deep midwicket, sending Chinnaswamy Stadium into a frenzy. Henry's dominance continued as she capitalized on a dropped catch by Marizanne Kapp at deep midwicket. Despite the ball's movement off the seam on slower deliveries, she remained unfazed and continued her aggressive batting against Shikha Pandey in the 17th over. Her powerful strikes included two sixes over long-on and another over Pandey's head, resulting in a total of 24 runs off six balls from Panday. Henry's aggressive batting strategy, which she calls range hitting, worked well against Annabel Sutherland's variations. Obviously, when we go in the nets, for me, basically, it's just about throwdowns. Range hitting, I do that a lot, she stated. Most of the time they were bowling to my strengths, and it was just about backing my ability, backing my strengths, the all-rounder added. This has been key to her successful performances in the WPL so far.
