Choiseul Secondary School (CSS) beat Soufrière Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) by 175 runs, while Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS) bested Piaye/TVET by 159 runs in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools’ Under-19 50-Over Boys Cricket Tournament this week.
Action continued in Group A at the Piaye Playing Field, with the Gros Islet Playing Field unavailable due to school athletics.
On Wednesday, despite the game being reduced to 29 overs per side as a result of rain, Choiseul reached 245-7. Team captain, national, and Windward Islands Under-15 player Jeanille Williams made 99. Saint Lucia teammate Jean added 25, Dermille Theodore 22, and Jermian Thomas 16.
Samuel Alexander took 4-50 for SCSS and Eleazor Cazaubon 2-32.
In reply, SCSS was bowled out for 70 in 19 overs. Williams took 3-21, Thomas 2-16, Jean 2-8, and Daniel 2-25. Alexander top-scored with 22. Cazaubon contributed 10.
In the earlier match, VFCSS made 229-6 in 42 overs. Micah Naitram got to 90, including 10 fours and three sixes. Nicholas Thomas contributed 20 not out, and D’Jarn Felix, D’Andre Napoleon and Joshua Celestin hit 13 each.
Omar Downes had fine returns of 3-36 for Piaye/TVET, and Nyus Jn Baptiste 2-33.
Piaye/TVET could not match Naitram’s firepower, as they were bowled out for 70 in 24.1 overs. Jessie Charlemagne made 33.
For VFCSS, Joshua Celestin went 3-12, Naitram 2-7, and Kaylam Neptune 2-23.
