Jordan Ayew was full of praise for late Ghana forward Christian Atsu, describing the talented winger as the best player he has played with.
Jordan and Atsu both represented the Black Stars for close to a decade following Jordan’s debut in 2010 and Atsu’s in 2012.
Atsu reached the apex of his Black Stars career in 2015, when he played a starring role in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) runners-up finish.
The former Newcastle winger scored twice in the competition, was named Player of the tournament, and clinched the Goal of the tournament.
Speaking about the best players he’s played with, the former Olympique Marseille and Crystal forward name checked some Ghanaian icons, including his brother Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan.
However, Jordan opted for Atsu, who he felt was under appreciated in his playing days.
“To be honest, I’ll go for Atsu. He deserves a lot of credit and plaudits for what he has done in his career,” he told Joy Sports.
“What he has done for the national team. Don’t get me wrong. You have Asamoah Gyan, you have Dede. Honestly, playing jn that generation with that group of people was just unbelievable. It was top but I’ll give it to Christian because obviously he deserves plaudits. People don’t talk much about him, but he was a really top player,” he added.
