Colin Farrell is mourning the loss of his father Eamon.
Farrell's father, a former soccer player, died on Wednesday, April 9, according to a death notice issued on April 9. He was 83.
Eamon "passed peacefully, after a long illness bravely borne, in the loving care of his family and the excellent staff of the Whitworth Ward, Beaumont Hospital," in Dublin, Ireland, read the notice.
The Dublin-based professional soccer club Shamrock Rovers individually confirmed Eamon's death in an Instagram post on Thursday, April 10. Eamon "joined Rovers in 1960 at 18 years of age from the famous schoolboy nursery club Home Farm," according to the post.
"A half back who was a minor and schoolboy Ireland international, Eamonn played alongside his older brother Tommy during his time at Milltown," the soccer club's caption continued, alongside a black-and-white undated photo of Eamon posing on the pitch. "Both were on the team that beat Shelbourne in the FAI Cup final in 1962 played in front of an attendance of 32,000."
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam," the club added in Irish; the phrase translates to "May his soul rest in peace."

My mom, Rita, my dad, Eamon, and the two people in my life who have made my life so much more special and so much more meaningful, so much more joyful than I ever truly thought possible: my son James and son Henry," he said in part.
According to Eamon's death notice, he will lie in repose at his home on Friday, April 11 for family and friends to visit. Funeral services and a cremation ceremony will be held in Dublin on Saturday, April 12.
