One fan favourite left Coronation Street for good on the ITV soap on Monday night.
The character announced her decision to leave in the latest episode of the ITV soap, having said during Friday's visit to the cobbles that she'd been offered a job in London. She'd told granddaughter Alya Nazir then that she was leaving very soon and would be selling her shares in the family restaurant.
Monday's episode arrived and Yasmeen confirmed that she would be leaving that very day, leaving Alya emotional. But before she went she had a final surprise.
Alya finally found out who would be replacing her gran at Speed Daal and it was a familiar face. As Yasmeen joined her in the pub she soon introduced her new business partner as being none other than neighbour, and Alya's former stepmother, Leanne Battersby.
Alya was in shock as Leanne told her: "Hi partner!" With that Yasmeen was ready to go, and said her final goodbyes before preparing to leave Weatherfield for good.
As the moment came she said farewell in emotional scenes with Alya, as they reminisced over the past 11 years. Yasmeen had no one else waving her off as she drove away from the street for good.
Actress Shelley King had quit the role, with the news announced fairly recently after 11 years. Spoilers had teased a looming exit for the character, while her exit storyline wasn't revealed until recently.
"This will be another blow for fans of the show, as Yasmeen is a much-loved character who's part of the fabric of Corrie. She's had some huge storylines since she joined the soap in 2014, and she'll be sorely missed by cast and crew. It’s understood she is leaving so she can explore other projects," a source told The Sun at the time.
It follows a number of other exits including Gail Platt, Mason Radcliffe and more on the way. Eileen Grimshaw and Daisy Midgeley are among characters set to leave soon, while Craig Tinker is also leaving Weatherfield.
It's been reported that Colson Smith's character will be tragically killed off, after actor Colson revealed he'd been axed from the show. Debbie Webster will also leave the soap in the future after a dementia storyline was confirmed. Evelyn Plummer will now appear part-time, while Bethany Platt recently moved to London with actress Lucy Fallon on maternity leave. More recent exits include villain Joel Deering and Max Turner.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
