Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has been seen alongside her on-screen husband after recently sharing some upsetting news away from the cobbles. As fans know, the actress is famed for playing Fiz Dobbs - nee Stape and Brown - in the ITV soap, having made her debut in the role back in 2001. But Corrie wasn't her first soap, as Jennie actually appeared in Emmerdale from 1999 to 2000, playing the role of Michelle Morley, a school friend of Ollie Reynolds. She then left for Weatherfield at the age of 17 and hasn't left - except when Jennie headed on maternity leave to welcome her three children - in 24 years. Get all the latest Corrie gossip and spoilers in our newsletter here Following her most recent break, back in 2023 through to 2024, Corrie fans saw that Fiz was reunited with her husband Tyrone Dobbs and their children- Ruby and Hope - as well as her extended family. Now, Jennie has been seen on the cobbles alongside Tyrone star Alan Halsall, as the pair helped host The Big Football Day powered by The National Lottery. The event saw seven grassroots football clubs from England and Wales will come together on Britain’s most famous street tomorrow, to celebrate The National Lottery’s investment in the game ahead of the two nations’ crucial UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 clash, which took place on Sunday (July 13). The unprecedented event saw 48 young female footballers aged 12-16 from National Lottery-supported clubs brought together, showcasing how sustained grassroots investment has created pathways from local pitches to international tournaments. Having represented the Corrie cast on the cobbles on the day, Alan took to his Instagram Story with a snap of himself and Jennie, which he simply surrounded by rows of love hearts. It's the first time Jennie has been seen since she confirmed the closure of her city centre restaurant in a heartbreaking post. At the start of the month, the soap star announced the closure of her Manchester restaurant Annies via a social media update. Located on Old Bank Street in the city centre , the gastropub and bar was co-owned by Jennie and her partner Chris Farr. The venue, which is ranked sixth on Tripadvisor for restaurants in Manchester, first opened in 2012. The post was quickly met with an outpouring of love for the soap star and the restaurant team. The post in full read: "It's with a heavy heart that we've had to close the doors to Annies this week. We want to thank the amazing people, staff and customers who've been part of our Annies journey. "Our whole team will miss all of our wonderful customers, who we have come to call friends. Thanks for all the support you've given to us all over these years. With love and thanks. Chris and Jennie." Only last year, the restaurant was named among ‘the best of the best’ in the country at a prestigious awards ceremony. TripAdvisor unveiled its Traveller's Choice Awards Best of the Best Restaurants list in September, which recognises the reviewers' favourite dining spots of reviewers for 2024, with Annie's in Manchester named in the top ten.
