A Coronation Street star has made a surprise return to the ITV soap just weeks after waving the cobbles goodbye.
Max Turner (Paddy Bever) left Coronation Street for the slammer after being sentenced to a lengthy stretch behind bars for arson.
The troubled teen set fire to the family home in the hope that the insurance would would cover the debts David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) owed Harvey Gaskell.
With the evidence mounting up against him, Max eventually decided to come clean, and handed himself into the police.
In court, Max was sentenced to six and a half years of prison time.

Actor Paddy Bever announced his departure from the show earlier this year, after filming his final scenes.
Though many viewers thought Max’s sentencing would mark his final appearance on the show, he has appeared in several episodes since, including this evening’s.
After a dramatic day for David, which saw him confronted by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) for causing the death of his and Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) unborn baby, the Platts were relieved to hear from Max.

The family were concerned for his safety being in prison with Harvey, so they requested he be moved elsewhere, resulting in Max being held in Durham.
It came as a relief when Max revealed he hadn’t had any trouble from Harvey or his mates since David had paid him off, leaving the family hopeful that their feud was behind them.
During the emotional call, Max was updated on gossip from sister Lily, before David told him he loved him, with Max returning the sentiment before hanging up the phone.
