Whitford-Maraetai Road at Beachlands was down to one open lane at lunchtime today following a crash involving two motor vehicles.
A Beachlands resident contacted the Times at 12.50pm on Thursday to say the collision between the vehicles was near Formosa golf course and that one car had left the road and was in a ditch.
The resident also said the road was down to one open lane for a short distance, with traffic travelling in both directions giving way to each other to pass as police and tow trucks attended the scene.
Counties Manukau Police told the Times the two-vehicle crash on Whitford-Maraetai Road was reported to them just before 11.30am.
There were no reports of injuries to people travelling in the vehicles involved in the incident, police say.
The Beachlands resident had a message for other motorists travelling in the wet weather that east Auckland is presently experiencing.
“Please be safe out there and drive to the conditions.”
