Cricket star Georgia Voll always looks like she is having fun, and that's because she is

Women's cricket was not even televised when rising Australian star Georgia Voll was a little girl.
But after a cracking summer season, Voll is providing plenty of inspiration for the next generation of players.
It is a responsibility the 21-year-old, who is from Toowoomba in regional Queensland, takes seriously.
"I think that's the main thing for me, inspiring the next generation in the way that I sort of carry myself on the field, but also off the field as well," she said.
Voll, who was Cricket Australia's women's Domestic Player of the Year for 2025, said she had not always intended on playing cricket.
As a young girl she drew inspiration from rugby league legend Steph Hancock and dreamed of one day playing for the Jillaroos.
But after moving to Brisbane with her family at the start of the pandemic, she was offered a cricket contract.
She said she had not looked back.
"When you're young, you always say, 'I want to be a professional athlete, I want to play for Australia'," she said.
"Playing with the Australian women's team is something that you dream of.
"I think I'm living the dream to be honest with you, I can't really ask for much more."
But she said there had been sacrifices along the way.
She credited her family for what it took to get her there.
"All those balls that my dad threw me in the backyard," she said.
"My mum drove me from Toowoomba to Brisbane four or five times a week for about three or four years just to come to underage cricket training.
"Sacrifices she made in terms of working and things like that, just to get me down to Brisbane so I could train at the best facilities."
Ashes debut
Voll debuted with the history-making Australian women's side that won all three One Day Internationals (ODI), all three T20s and the stand-alone test in the 2024/25 Ashes series against England.
"The 16-nil whitewash was pretty cool to be a part of," she said.
"Especially being at home in front of my family and pretty much where it all started, when I debuted for Queensland back in 2020."
She scored a maiden century off just 84 balls in her second ODI.
It motivated her to stay in the history making side.
"My big goal would be to [continue] to perform domestically first of all," Voll said.
"When I get the opportunity to pull on the Australian colours, take it with both hands and do the best job I can."
Her latest career progression has taken her overseas.
She was added to the UP Warriorz squad in the Women's Premier League in India as an injury replacement.
In her second match last weekend she fell just one run short of becoming the first batter to score a century in the competition.
Voll was left stranded on 99 not out in the UP Warriorz 12-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow.
Born leader
Former rugby league coach Lisa Croft said she had known Voll since she was a "fun and quirky" 11-year-old.
"She always just had that natural leadership, natural ability, and she always thought strategically about the game," she said.
"She just knew how to gather the girls and lead."
Now the Warwick school teacher watches Voll play cricket on television alongside her own daughter, filled with immense pride.
"I think it's so good that the young kids and young girls specifically can see that on TV now and have something to aim for," she said.
"Being a teacher, I think that you always hope that you have some impact on a young person in some form.
"I think one day, she will probably lead her country, if given the opportunity."
Cricket commentators have labelled Voll the next big thing, a young gun and a rising star.
Voll said she did not read too much into any of it, instead remaining focused.
"I sort of just try and work really hard and let the performances do the talking," she said.
"I feel like I've got a long way to go in terms of proving myself."
