Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a horror campaign in the IPL 2025, as they became the first team to be knocked out of the tournament. A host of their players have been terribly out of form, and there has been heavy criticism about their strategy at the IPL 2025 auction. Their focus on bringing in players like Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar and Rahul Tripathi and ignoring young talents. Now it looks like they missed a massive opportunity. According to a report by The Indian Express, CSK completely ignored the recommendations of players suggested by their team of talent scouts. This also included left-handed opener Priyansh Arya, who is making waves for Punjab Kings this season. This follows a long list of players that they have rejected in the past including Sai Sudharsan and Varun Chakaravarthy. Priyansh Arya has slammed 346 runs from 10 games this season at a strike rate of 196. He also slammed a century against CSK at Mullanpur. Sam Curran was the star of the show with the bat, as he slammed 88 runs from 47 balls. Dewald Brevis also played a handy knock of 32. However, the home team had a late collapse, where they lost 5 wickets in the space of 7 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal picked up a hat-trick in the 19th over, and finished with 4 wickets to his name. Punjab Kings never had any major difficulty in the run chase. Prabhsimran Singh gave them a brisk start as he slammed his second consecutive half-century. Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer with 72, while Shashank Singh scored a quickfire 23, as the away side won by a margin of 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare. CSK has thus been officially eliminated from the tournament.
